Our Mission & Impact
Troutdale’s story is bigger than one building, one highway, or one generation. The Troutdale Historical Society preserves and shares the people, places, objects, photographs, and stories that shaped our community and the western gateway to the Columbia River Gorge.
Our Official Mission
The Troutdale Historical Society is organized and shall be operated exclusively to gather, preserve, and make available museum, record, and other material relating to the history of the community of Troutdale, the northern portion of the Sandy River, and nearby areas to stimulate an interest in, and knowledge of the locality's past.

What We Do
Through the Barn Exhibit Hall, the Fred E. Harlow House Museum, and the Depot Rail Museum, THS provides year-round opportunities to explore Troutdale’s history. Our work includes preserving local collections, creating exhibits, hosting public programs, supporting research, publishing local history, and partnering with community organizations to keep Troutdale’s stories visible and accessible.
